The Power of Nature

I believe in the power of nature to help people live a better life. Research shows that humans who are visually connected to nature have a greater sense of satisfaction, less depression and faster recovery rates from illness. This is what we do.

Collaboration

Every project we do is a collaboration between the prinicipal, clients and stakeholders, and often involves working with Arborists, Architects and Engineers in the concept planning stage of design. Working collaboratively, we have turned ugly and neglected public spaces into cherished neighbourhood amenities, paved roofs and parking lots into green features, and schoolyards into rich outdoor learning and play environments. And our awards prove it!

Did you know? In collaboration with Evergreen and Tree Canada, we have coordinated and designed 12 native plant gardens involving students at schools throughout southern British Columbia.

Working with BC Hydro's Environmental Planning division, we have designed and implemented native planting schemes at 9 sites throughout BC.

And working with Architect, planning team and stakeholder groups, we have designed landscape plans for 12 Parks and Recreation centres throughout British Columbia.

Site Sensitive Design

We read a site and assess a site's potential as an important start to every project. While the problems we face are usually complex, with a thoughtful approach, creativity and the experience to back it up, we often uncover simple solutions that work within the constraints of a project. Using our unique in-depth up front analysis and our extensive knowledge of plants, we are able to provide you with a design that is appropriate for your site, your budget and your long term maintenance requirements. Using our process, we guarantee your project will look good sooner and last longer with less maintenance than other, less sustainable designs.

Our site sensitive design process also means functionality is a key focus of every design decision, always keeping the end-users needs in sight and designing spaces that flourish with age. We have extensive experience in participatory planning and involving local communities in the planning of public spaces. Communication throughout the design phase means you will have many opportunities to provide us with feedback along the way.
